Somehow, I’ve always felt a little bit like Simon. Somehow, I’ve always felt a little bit like Simon.
A dreamer. A slow mover. The kind of person who rarely follows the crowd and usually wanders off in her own direction.
Harmless too… unless you happen to be a particularly juicy strawberry. 🍓❤️

Maybe that’s why illustrating This Is What a Slug Does felt so natural. Sometimes the characters we create are a little more like ourselves than we realize.

They’re all about the right ingredients.

Over the years, I’ve realized that trust is one of the most important ones. It doesn’t appear overnight. It’s something we build together.

As an illustrator, I try to build that trust by communicating clearly, keeping my promises, and looking for ways to make an idea even better than the original brief.
And when a client trusts my expertise and gives me the freedom to explore, that’s when the magic happens. The work becomes stronger, the collaboration feels effortless, and creating becomes a lot more fun for everyone involved.

Looking back, this approach has led to some wonderful long-term collaborations, and I’m incredibly grateful for every one of them. 🤍

What’s the secret ingredient in your favorite collaborations?

Many of them are available for licensing for thoughtful children’s brands that believe childhood deserves a little more wonder.

Books, packaging, textiles, stationery, puzzles… they’re surprisingly flexible. 🩷

Curious to see what’s available? Send me a message, I’d be happy to share the collection.
The most important ingredient in Simon the Slug is The most important ingredient in Simon the Slug isn’t his eyes or his smile.
It’s Ecoline ink. ✨

When I design a character, I spend just as much time thinking about the material as I do about the character itself.

A slug isn’t crisp or structured. He’s wet, unpredictable and always on the move. Ecoline ink naturally blooms, spreads and finds its own way across the paper in much the same way. It almost behaves like a slug itself, which made it the perfect match for Simon.

I love choosing materials that don’t just paint a character, but quietly become part of who they are.

If an art material came to life as a character, what would it be? 🤗

Being selected for the World Illustration Awards 2026 Longlist is something I’m incredibly proud of, and it feels too special not to celebrate a little longer.

So here’s a small collection of close-ups and original paintings that are very dear to me. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating them. 💛
