Guess I never stopped being a tree hugger… Nature Guess I never stopped being a tree hugger…
Nature still sneaks its way into everything I create, in colors, shapes and little details. 💚

What about ferns… their shapes feel so ancient and delicate at the same time. They’ve actually existed for over 300 million years. 🌱
Children’s books do so much more than entertain ✨ Children’s books do so much more than entertain ✨
Through stories, children get to know all kinds of emotions in a safe and playful way. They connect with characters, learn empathy, and discover little life lessons along the way. Sometimes it’s much easier to understand feelings when they belong to a tiny fictional friend first 🐝
Books can also help make difficult topics feel lighter and less scary. A story opens the door to conversations that might otherwise feel hard to start.

That’s one of the reasons we created The Blissies in Villavoelspriet. In rhyme, Bijtje takes children along through all sorts of complicated feelings and shows them gentle ways to deal with them.
Because big emotions deserve a soft place to land 💛

Pad is teaching little Vleertje her sleep ritual, and somehow it instantly brought me back to Sunday morning baths from my childhood.
Minus the water lilies, of course. Those never made it into our family bathroom somehow.

There’s something so comforting about those tiny rituals we carry with us. Warm water. Sleepy eyes. The feeling that the world can wait a little longer. 🤍

What does your sleep ritual look like?
And is it something you borrowed from childhood too? ✨

People sometimes ask me how I turned illustration People sometimes ask me how I turned illustration into my full-time job, so I thought I’d share a few things that genuinely helped me along the way.
Not because I have everything figured out.
But because reading honest experiences from other artists always helped me too.

Building a creative career takes persistence, trust in yourself, rest, visibility, awkward emails, fair pricing, passion, and probably an unhealthy amount of tea 🫖

I deeply believe the world needs more human-made art.
Art with personality, sensitivity, stories and real experiences behind it.
So if you’re dreaming of becoming an illustrator too: keep going 💛 And if you have questions, feel free to ask them below👇🏻

I really love translating my illustrations into di I really love translating my illustrations into different materials every now and then.🧡
Working with clay uses a completely different part of my brain, and honestly, getting my hands dirty and making tiny squirrels is strangely calming.

I probably should make more time for it between projects. I always forget how refreshing it is to step away from your usual way of working and just make something a little wonky by hand.

Too fancy for the forest. 🌰

Painting plants is almost as relaxing as being sur Painting plants is almost as relaxing as being surrounded by them 🌱🫛

I love illustrating plants because you honestly can’t really do it wrong. Nature already comes in the weirdest shapes, so every curly leaf and chaotic branch somehow just works.

It’s basically the most peaceful kind of creative freedom.

What’s your favorite thing to illustrate when you want to fully disappear into the process?
